For more than a decade, the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation has been in the news for good reasons. If I’m to ever splurge on an expensive foundation – C$70 plus tax, it definitely has to be an award-winning one. According to makeup.com the Luminous Silk Foundation won the InStyle “Best Beauty Buy” Award-Winner for “Best Liquid Foundation” & “Perfect Match #1 Makeup Artist’s Choice” for 10th Year in a Row. In my book, this has to mean something. Plus, It has an incredible range of shade that caters to different skin tone.
We all want to achieve a flawless look without giving the impression that we have on foundation. This foundation gain popularity due to being a lightweight foundation that gives a great coverage without making your face look like a cake. Is this true? Yes, I sincerely feel this foundation deserve all the praises it receives. It blends exceptionally well and gives an amazing coverage without feeling too heavy on the skin. Whether I use a sponge or brush or my hand to apply this foundation, I’ll get the same results – a flawless, natural and smooth finish look.
It has a runny consistency with a thin texture that gives a semi-matte look. Therefore, making it a foundation that is suitable for persons with oily, combination or dry skin. Another plus, it is very buildable. I can have on this foundation throughout the day, without having to do any touch-up. Another exciting thing about the Luminous Silk is the fact that it makes my face look pretty good in photos. Maybe because it has light reflection technology.
I do feel that you have to be extra careful in selecting the correct shade that will match your skin tone. Whenever I use this foundation, it oxides a little after having it for a prolonged time. At the same time, you do not want to get a too fair shade to look like a porcelain doll. Luckily I selected a good match (4.5). Another recommendation, ensure your skin is prep well before applying this foundation, it does emphasize dry patches a tiny bit.
I would absolutely recommend this hall-of-fame. I know the heavy price tag can damage your wallet. But you get a whole lot of product. Plus you don’t need a lot to blur the imperfections away; one pump can do a pretty decent job. Maybe I am over dramatic, but it is ridiculously comfortable; feels so nice against the skin. If you are on a hunt for a perfect foundation, maybe this can be one of your pick at the Sephora VIB sale.
